Microsoft Unveils Surface Refresh Featuring Snapdragon X2 Chips

Starting at $1,499, Microsoft’s latest Surface Pro 12 and Surface Laptop 8 hardware arrives with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 processors, marking a swift hardware iteration for the Copilot Plus PC initiative that seeks to tighten the integration between Windows on Arm and high-performance mobile silicon.

Microsoft Unveils Surface Refresh Featuring Snapdragon X2 Chips

The Surface Pro 12th Edition debuts as a 13-inch convertible, offering both 10-core X2 Plus and 12-core X2 Elite configurations. The Surface Laptop 8th Edition provides similar chip options across its 13.8-inch and 15-inch displays. While the smaller laptop model introduces new jade colorways, the 15-inch version remains restricted to traditional platinum and black finishes.

Entry-level pricing reflects a $100 increase over the previous generation. The Surface Pro 12 starts at $1,499 for a 256GB storage model, excluding keyboard or stylus accessories, while the Surface Laptop 8 begins at $1,599 for a 512GB SSD configuration. Both base models include 16GB of RAM. Microsoft plans to roll out commercial versions, the Surface for Business X2, on July 14th with a starting price of $1,649.99. These figures sit below the $1,949.99 barrier established by the Intel Panther Lake business models introduced last month. Beyond the internal silicon updates, the company claims significant gains in graphics performance while targeting 15.5 hours of battery life.
