Mizero Ncuti Gatwais a Rwandan-Scottish actor. He is best known as the fifteenth incarnation of the Doctor in the science fiction series Doctor Who (2023–present) and Eric Effiong in the Netflix comedy series Sex Education (2019–2023). Additionally, he has appeared in Barbie (2023) and Masters of the Air (2024).
He began his career on stage at the Dundee Repertory Theatre. He was nominated for an Ian Charleson Award for his performance as Mercutio in a 2014 production of Romeo & Juliet at HOME.
Gatwa’s breakout role in Sex Education earned him a BAFTA Scotland Award and three BAFTA Television Award nominations for Best Male Comedy Performance.
