Huang said his actions had hurt his wife and children and that “there is no excuse” for his conduct. He took full responsibility and said he hoped his family could heal and that he could earn back their trust over time.

Addressing Nvidia employees, the board, partners and shareholders, Huang said he had fallen short of his responsibility as the company’s leader. He described leading Nvidia as “the privilege of my life” and pledged to work to regain their confidence.

Nvidia announced on Sunday that its board had initiated an independent investigation into national security concerns raised in news reports about Huang’s relationship with Alice Huang, an AI executive and agent of the Chinese government. Huang said he supported the investigation and would cooperate fully. He also said he was committed to protecting Nvidia and supporting U.S. national security.

Huang said his family bore no responsibility for his choices and asked that they be given privacy.
