X Overhauls Web App to Slash Load Times

X is rolling out a streamlined web application designed to drastically reduce loading times, cutting the initial display delay from 22 seconds to under three seconds on slow connections. The update replaces a fragmented three-server architecture with a unified system, currently being deployed to signed-in users on a country-by-country basis.

Principal engineer Yagiz Nizipli detailed the transition, noting that the previous iteration forced users on sluggish networks to wait over 22 seconds before the first post appeared. The revamped platform achieves the same result in 2.7 seconds. By consolidating the infrastructure previously split between human users, search crawlers, and link previews into a single server setup, the company claims significant performance gains.

Early feedback from security researcher Jane Manchun Wong confirms the improvement, describing the interface as snappy and polished. She noted that the new version maintains feature parity with the previous platform, a complex technical challenge for the engineering team. While the rollout for authenticated accounts is ongoing, the faster architecture is already active for logged-out users and search engine crawlers.
