Chrome Integrates Gemini to Pull Form Data Directly From Gmail

Starting today, Google is upgrading Chrome’s autofill feature by leveraging Gemini with Personal Intelligence to scrape specific data directly from your Gmail inbox. The update aims to eliminate the friction of switching tabs to find tracking numbers, flight details, or order confirmations while completing online forms in the browser.

The expanded capability builds upon existing infrastructure that already populates fields with personal info sourced from Google Accounts and Wallet. By scanning emails, the browser can now suggest shipment tracking IDs, hotel reservation codes, and recent purchase order numbers in real time. Google emphasizes that this sensitive information remains encrypted, and users maintain granular control through Chrome settings, where the feature can be restricted or disabled entirely.

Rolling out first in the United States, the functionality is accessible across desktop, Android, and iOS platforms. To utilize the feature, users must have Personal Intelligence enabled within their browser settings. This shift signals a broader push to integrate generative AI into routine browsing tasks, effectively turning the inbox into a dynamic database for form completion.
