Apple Debuts Refined iPad Mini With OLED Screen and A20 Pro Chip

Apple has unveiled a redesigned 8.5-inch iPad Mini, marking a departure from its predecessor by integrating an OLED display and the powerful A20 Pro chip. Priced from $699, the device arrives just ahead of a broader product showcase, signaling a significant push to revitalize the compact tablet segment.

The new hardware measures just 5.4mm in thickness, achieving a slimmer profile through a 24 percent reduction in bezel size. This shift allows the device to retain its signature compact footprint while expanding the screen real estate beyond the previous 8.3-inch iteration. Apple has also bolstered the device's durability with an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance, while the panel now reaches a peak brightness of 1200 nits.

Performance gains center on the A20 Pro processor, which specifically enables advanced Siri AI functionality, including granular control over voice expressiveness and pacing. For video conferencing, the 12MP front-facing camera has been relocated to the long edge to accommodate landscape orientation. Preorders open October 28th, with retail availability scheduled for November 6th. Consumers can choose between midnight and starlight finishes, with an optional nano-texture display upgrade also available.
