Antigravity cuts A1 drone price by ditching the headset

Antigravity has slashed the entry price of its A1 drone to $799, a significant reduction from the original $1,599 cost. By replacing the cumbersome virtual reality goggles and motion controller with a simplified wristwatch and ring interface, the company is positioning the device as an automated, hands-free aerial cameraman.

The A1 previously required users to navigate a virtual cockpit via FPV goggles, a process that prioritized immersive flight over casual filming. The new Follow Me kit shifts the focus toward portability and ease of use. Users can now launch the drone directly from their palm, allowing the device to track and film them automatically while navigating around obstacles.

Testing the new configuration reveals a more approachable experience. Instead of isolating the operator in a headset, the system relies on intuitive gesture controls. By waving a hand like a wand, the pilot can nudge the drone's position in any direction while remaining fully aware of their physical surroundings. This hardware pivot transforms the A1 from a dedicated flying tool into a streamlined companion for solo creators who prefer to concentrate on their activities rather than the mechanics of flight.
