The new feature functions similarly to Patreon, enabling creators to bundle benefits into multiple price points while utilizing built-in tools for audience analysis, targeted promotions, and community engagement. Unlike the static subscription model introduced in 2021, these memberships are designed to integrate seamlessly alongside existing revenue streams such as the Spotify Partner Program and traditional advertising.
Spotify Expands Creator Monetization With Global Membership Rollout
Starting today, Spotify is empowering podcasters across 34 regions to launch paid membership tiers, offering fans exclusive access to bonus episodes, early releases, and ad-free listening. This move shifts the platform closer to a creator-first economy, allowing hosts to retain 90 percent of the subscription revenue generated through their pages.

To qualify for the program, shows must be hosted on Spotify for Creators or Megaphone and meet a baseline threshold of 100 consumption hours, 100 unique listeners, and at least three published episodes. For creators already managing paywalls elsewhere, Spotify’s Open Access feature facilitates the migration of existing exclusive content directly into the new ecosystem.
