The bulk of this capital, totaling $158 million, has been directed to the Senate Leadership Fund, a super PAC dedicated to maintaining a Republican majority. A key target for this funding is Texas, where the party is fighting to defend a Senate seat in the state that serves as the primary base for Musk’s business empire. Beyond the Senate, he has invested $76 million into America PAC, an organization he founded this year to mobilize voters in difficult-to-reach districts.
Elon Musk Emerges as Republican Party’s Largest Political Benefactor
Elon Musk has funneled at least $276 million into Republican midterm efforts since July, catapulting him to the status of the party’s primary donor. This massive infusion of capital, which follows his significant financial support for Donald Trump’s previous campaign, underscores a strategic shift toward securing control of the Senate.

Additional contributions include $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund for House races, $10 million to support Ken Paxton’s Texas Senate bid, $10 million to the Republican Governors Association, and $2 million to the Republican Attorneys General Association. These expenditures bring Musk’s total federal committee donations for the 2025-26 cycle to roughly $366 million, eclipsing the $290 million he spent throughout the 2024 presidential election. These figures stand in stark contrast to his public declaration in May of last year, when he claimed he intended to significantly reduce his political spending.
