Previously, AstroLab users were confined to four macro controls and basic effect adjustments, limiting the hardware's utility for genuine sound creation. The new firmware changes this by providing access to deeper parameter sets. While the process involves significant menu diving due to the limited physical interface, users can now build custom patches from scratch. The most efficient workflow involves creating initialized templates within the AnalogLab desktop app, transferring them to the hardware, and refining the sounds using the existing macro knobs.
Arturia AstroLab 2.0 brings deep sound design to stage keyboards
Arturia has overhauled its AstroLab stage keyboard series with the 2.0 firmware update, finally moving the hardware beyond the constraints of a glorified preset browser. By introducing a dedicated Sound Edit menu, the company allows musicians to manipulate individual instrument parameters directly on the device for the first time.

Beyond sound design, Arturia has addressed a major performance gap by adding a collection of multisampled instruments. These 67 new patches—spanning piano, strings, and brass—aim to improve the keyboard's realism when competing against dedicated acoustic-focused stage pianos. The update also includes quality-of-life refinements, such as improved aftertouch sensitivity and visual transposition feedback via the octave LEDs. While the desktop connectivity remains stable, the mobile AstroLab Connect app continues to show persistent reliability issues. This free update is available now for all existing AstroLab owners.
