Managing editor Derrek Lee and staff writers including Shruti Shekar, Harish Jonnalagadda, and Nicholas Sutrich publicly confirmed their termination, leaving the site without its primary editorial core. Former senior editor Namerah Saud Fatmi also updated her professional status to reflect the end of her tenure. While the departing journalists were initially left in the dark regarding the site's survival, fresh content appeared on the domain today, authored by external freelancers rather than the established team.
Future keeps Android Central running after full-staff layoff
Four of the six editorial staff members at Android Central announced their departure yesterday, signaling a sudden gutting of the site’s full-time team. Despite the mass exit, parent company Future confirmed that the publication will remain active, shifting its output entirely to a network of freelance contributors.

Future spokesperson Nicole Martineau stated the company intends to keep the site operational but declined to provide specifics regarding long-term strategy. This restructuring mirrors broader volatility in the tech media landscape; Android Police recently cut at least two staff positions, leaving that outlet with a skeleton crew of four. Valnet, the owner of Android Police, has yet to address the recent personnel changes.
