Snap Debuts Specs Intelligence as Anticipatory AI Assistant
Snap is rolling out Specs Intelligence, an AI assistant designed to aggregate data from connected apps to manage daily workflows and travel logistics. Positioned as an anticipatory service, the tool aims to surface information before a user prompts it, while launching alongside the company’s new augmented reality glasses.
Technically, the system relies on a hybrid of open-source models hosted in the U.S. and local large language models. Spokesperson Cassie Bumgarner noted that the company iterates on this model mixture regularly to optimize performance. Despite the utility, Snap faces the significant hurdle of user privacy. To mitigate concerns regarding data harvesting, the company maintains that it cannot access personal content processed by the tool and has pledged not to use such data for model training or targeted advertising.
