Gold rallies to $4,340 as US retail spending beats forecasts
A 1.2% jump in American retail sales for August—far outpacing the 0.8% consensus—has injected fresh momentum into the precious metals market. The surge in consumer activity, reported by the U.S. Commerce Department, pushed spot gold prices to a session high of $4,353.78 shortly after the data release.

Following the announcement, gold maintained a solid upward trajectory, last trading at $4,340.98, representing a 1.10% increase for the session. This broad-based strength in consumer spending follows a turbulent July, where headline sales had previously contracted by 0.6%.
