Gold Nears $4,600 Threshold as Jobless Claims Dip Below Projections
With 203,000 Americans filing new unemployment claims for the week ending August 22, gold prices have surged toward the $4,600 per ounce mark. This figure outperformed economist expectations of 208,000, signaling a tightening labor market that continues to influence precious metal valuations on the commodities exchange.

While initial filings fell short of forecasts, the four-week moving average reached 205,500, slightly exceeding the projected 203,000. Additionally, continuing jobless claims for the week ending August 15 dropped to 1.778 million, coming in lower than the anticipated 1.790 million. These metrics suggest sustained momentum in the U.S. workforce, providing a complex backdrop for current gold market movements.
