Google Gemini expands AI note-taking to in-person and third-party calls

Previously restricted to alpha testing on Android, the feature is now accessible through the Google Meet mobile app and desktop interface. By selecting the "take notes for me" option, users can initiate a recording session that bridges the gap between physical rooms and virtual environments. The tool functions even for impromptu gatherings, meaning formal calendar invites are no longer a prerequisite for AI documentation.

Once the session concludes, Gemini automatically compiles a comprehensive summary and a list of action items. These files are saved directly into a Google Doc and stored in the user's Drive, centralizing project management. If a participant joins remotely during an in-person session, the interface allows for a seamless transition into a standard video call, maintaining the continuity of the transcript.
