The company’s total assets under management climbed to $1.64 trillion, up from $1.58 trillion during the same quarter last year. This growth highlights the resilience of U.S. life insurers that employ diversified business models to mitigate the impact of broader market volatility.
Prudential Profit Climbs as PGIM and Life Units Drive Growth
Prudential Financial reported a sharp rise in second-quarter profit, bolstered by robust performance across its global investment management and individual life insurance divisions. The insurer’s after-tax adjusted operating income reached $4.08 per common share for the period ending June 30, eclipsing the $3.58 per share recorded one year prior.

PGIM, the firm’s investment management arm, posted an adjusted operating income of $294 million, a significant jump from $229 million a year ago. Meanwhile, the individual life unit saw its adjusted operating income more than double, rising to $176 million from $82 million. CEO Andy Sullivan credited these results to strong investment performance at PGIM and strategic investments in product diversification.
